Online Hearing Testing

Online hearing tests are not meant to replace a visit to the audiologist, but help you assess your hearing at a basic level. Keep in mind your computer and background noise will affect the outcomes. The tests below have been selected after hours of research and are considered the best options for online testing available. Each is provided by a reputable organisation with experience in hearing testing and each is different.

The first free hearing test allows you to plot your hearing curve similar to an audiogram and will give you some idea of what is normal versus what your hearing curve looks like across varying frequencies.

The second hearing test allows you to listen to numbers being read out and then requires you to type them in with volumes being adjusted automatically. Based on the results your hearing may be assessed as normal or not and recommend you visit your GP or audiologist.

These tests are free and sourced from the organisations providing them, allowing Freehearingtest.com.au to once again bring you only the best. Remember the objective of providing these online hearing tests are:

  • To help you recognise if you may have a problem and to take action as a result
  • Not to replace any form of professional hearing assessment, such as that provided by an audiologist
  • Not to test your hearing aid, tests shuld be taken without a hearing aid

Test : Equal loudness contours and audiometry - Hearing test on-line

This hearing test measures the relative sensitivity of your hearing at various frequencies. The test allows you to produce equal loudness contours or hearing curves which is the frequency response of your own ears.

Warning: Do not start with a panel in the top third of the chart: you might hurt or even damage your ears

Warning: Results using this test cannot be regarded as clinical data

Although the sound files have been carefully prepared, the actual sound level and spectral purity depend on the frequency response of your computers sound card and/ or headphones. They may, however, be helpful for comparison, such as left vs right ear, or for changes in hearing over time, assuming that you use the same hardware. Note, however, that daily fluctuations in hearing are common. If you are worried about your hearing, consult an audiologist.
